1997 - A New Depart

In 1998, IUFO's General Assembly held in Vienna, Austria, approved amendments to the Constitution and renamed the institution's name to World Family Organization.

In 1999 the World Family Organization strengthned its partnership with the UN Department of Economic and Social Afffairs(UNDESA) through a close bilateral work with the Division for Public Economics and Public Administration, the Non-Governmental Organizations Unit, the Non-Governmental Organizations Section and the Department of Public Information(DPI).

In September 2000 WFO participated with a very special invitation from the Secretary General of the United Nation to the Millennium Summit, where the Millennium Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals were adopted.

In July 2001, for the first time in the ECOSOC's history, a classified NGO addressed to the High Level Segment of ECOSOC held in Geneva - The World Family Organization.

In March 2002 the World Family Organization General Assembly approved its first long-term Plan of Action - Strategic Framework 2002/2005 - "Introducing Family Issues on the International Agenda and on the Framework of Social and Sustainable Development".

In 2002 attending to the UN Economic and Social Resolution 2002/6 WFO decided to call all its members, partners, contributors and collaborators to prepare for a World Family Summit, in celebration of the Tenth Anniversary of the International Year of the Family.

In May 10-13th, 2003 the World Family Summit was launched in Curitiba, Paraná - Brazil.

In Semptember 2003 UNESCO granted to WFO beside Consultative Status and the Operational Status.

In December 2003 was held in Djerba, Tunisia a Comprehensive Preparatory Meeting for the World Family Summit where a Platform for a Global Action in Favor of the Family was discussed and approved as the basic guidelines for the Summit's background papers as well as the logo and theme "For a Global Family Policy".

In February 2004 at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, the Platform for a Global Action in Favor of the Family was presented in form of a Declaration to the 42nd Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development, as part of the promotion and participation for the World Family Summit. The Declaration was included in the UN/ECOSOC/CSD Reports.

In February 2004 the Platform for a Global Action in Favor of the Family was presented in form of a Declaration to the Meeting of Ministers for Labour and Social Affairs of Arab Countries in Damascus, Siria.

In March 2004, in partnership with the Austrian Government, WFO European Region held the Regional Preparatory Meeting for the World Family Summit where discussions were held on the Platform for a Global Action in Favor of the Family in Vienna, Austria.

In March 2004, WFO participated in the preparation and discussion in a expert meeting with the African Union Commission of Social Affairs the "Africa Union's Plan of Action for the Family" in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

In May 2004, in partnership with the Tunisian Government, WFO Arab Region held the Regional Preparatory Meeting for the World Family Summit with the theme "The Access of Women and the Family to the New Information and Communication Technologies" and the Platform for a Global Action in Favor of the Family in Hammamet, Tunisia.

In June 2004, WFO participated at the UN ECOSOC High-Level Segment with a panel on the Platform for a Global Action in Favor of the Family, in UN Headquarters, New York.

In July 2004, the 3rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union and the 2nd General Assembly meeting of the Organization of African first Ladies approved the "Africa Union's Plan of Action for the Family" in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

In July 2004, the Africa Regional Conference on the Family adopted the "Plan of Action on the Family in Africa" approved by WFO and African Union in Cotonu, Benin.

In August 2004, WFO presented and approved the proposal for the World Family Summit to the International Federation of Home Economics on the XXth World Congress in Kyoto, Japan.

In August 2004, in partnership with the Brazilian Government, WFO Latin America Region held the Regional Preparatory Meeting for the World Family Summit "For a Global Family Policy" in Curitiba, Brazil.

In December 2004, World Family Organization, the United Nations and the Chinese Government held the World Family Summit: For a Global Family Policy in Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the International Year of the Family in Sanya, China.

In December 08, 2004, participants of the World Family Summit approved the Sanya Declaration: For a Comprehensive Family Policy in Sanya, China.

In February 2005, at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, the results of the World Family Summit in China as well the Sanya Declaration was presented in form of a Report and Declaration to the 43nd Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development.. The results of the World Family Summit were included in the Report for the UN ECOCOC High Level Segment in New York.

In June 2005, at the UN Headquarters, New York, the Report of the Wolrd Family Summit and the Sanya Declaration was presented to the UN ECOSOC High Level Segment and a Ministerial Roundtable Lunch on the results of the World Family Summit and the promotion of the World Family Summit +1 was held. The results of the World Family Summit was included in the UN Secretary General Report - 2005 in New York.

In September 2005, WFO participate to the First Session of the Arab Family Advisory Committee of the Arab League and to the Launching of the Jordanian Plan of Action to the Family in Amman, Jordan.

From December 3 to 8, 2005, the World Family Organization, the United Nations and the Sergipe State Government, Brazil held the World Family Summit +1: Investing in Development - Working the Millennium Development Goals at the Local Level and in the Family in follow-up of the World Family Summit held In China.

In December 08, 2005, participants of the World Family Summit +1 discussed and approved the Aracaju Plan of Action 2006-2015 in Aracaju, Sergipe State, Brazil.
