The Libyan Arab Jamahiriya has proposed and
sponsored the establishment of the Great-Man Made River International
Water Prize for "Water Resources in Arid and Semi-Arid
Areas" presented by UNESCO. Kindly find attached the Letter
calling for nominations and the Statutes of the Prize.
The deadline
for submission of nomination forms is 31 July 2007.
The Prize will be awarded by the Director-General
of UNESCO by November 10th, 2007 and comprises a certificate,
a medal and a financial award.
The Prize recognizes the achievements of an
individual, a group of individuals or a research institution
having made fundamental and substantial contributions to the
assessment, development, management and/or use of water resources
in arid and semi-arid areas.

par l'UNESCO : appel à candidatures.
La Jamahiriya
arabe libyenne a établi et financé le Prix international
de l'eau « Grand fleuve artificiel » pour les ressources
en eau dans les zones arides et semi-arides, décerné
par l'UNESCO. Veuillez trouver ci-joint la Lettre d'appel à
candidatures et les Statuts du Prix.
La date
limite de dépôt de candidatures a été
fixée au 31 juillet 2007.
Le prix
sera remis par le Directeur général de l'UNESCO
le 10 novembre 2007. Le Prix comporte une médaille, un
certificat et une allocation financière.
Le Prix
est destiné à récompenser les travaux d'une
personne, d'un groupe de personnes ou des instituts de recherche
ayant apporté une contribution fondamentale et substantielle
à l'évaluation, la mise en valeur, la gestion
et/ou l'utilisation des ressources en eau dans les zones arides
et semi-arides.
