Arrival:
The Summit Secretariat will set up a Welcome Desk at the Amman
Airport.
Official
Opening Ceremony:
will
be held in December 6th at 11:30.
Official
Closing Ceremony:
will
be held in December 7th at 16:15.
Other
Official Dinners and Cultural Events:
will
be held in other outside locations. Please check frequently to
obtain updated information. The Participant Handbook also will
contain specific information. Transportation Hotel-Venue-Hotel
will be provided.
Official
Dinner:
on December 6th at 20:00 the World Family Organization will offer
a dinner by invitation with a musical perfrmance by Rum Group.
Farewell
Dinner:
on December 7th at 20:00 the National Council for Family Affairs
of Jordan will offer a dinner with
a folkloric fashion show entitled "Jordan Throughout the
Ages".
Meals:
breakfast
is included in the hotel room rate. The International Organizing
Committee will provide lunch to all international participants
on December 5, 6 and 7. Other meals excluding the special dinners
on invitation shall be on your personal account.
Coffee
breaks: complimentary
tea/coffee will be provided as in the Program.
Banking
Services: during the Summit there will be a currency
exchange service counter at the Summit Venue. Credit cards are
accepted at hotels, restaurants and larger shops, including American
Express, Visa, Diners Club, and MasterCard. Please note that many
smaller shops still prefer cash payment in the Jordanian currency,
and it’s essential for shopping in the local souks.
Business
Hours:
Friday is the weekly holiday. Banks, government offices and most
businesses are closed on Saturdays as well. Many businesses, including
airline offices, travel agencies and some shops also close on
Thursday afternoon, although department stores and supermarkets
remain open. A few businesses and shops close for some of Sunday.

Currency:
the local currency is the Jordanian Dinar, symbol JD, which is
often called the “jaydee”. There are 1, 5, 10, 20,
50 JD notes. The dinar is divided onto 100 piasters (pronounced
“pee-aster”) of 1000 fils (“fills”). The
fils is the unit most commonly used and you will usually see prices
written as 4,750 (which is 4 JD and 750 fils). Currency can be
exchanged at major banks, exchange booths and at most hotels.
Street money-changers are best avoided. Exchange rates are set
daily by the Jordanian Central Bank. The rate of exchange in August
is JOD 1,00 = US$ 1,42. Please check frequently for the actual
exchange rate.Both traveler checks and cash are easy to change.

Tours for the Accompanying Persons: The Organizing
Committee will provide necessary services to facilitate the accompanying

Insurance:
The participants are expected to have and shall be responsible
for their own insurance to cover for expenses related to medical
treatment while on travel or in Jordan when attending the Summit
and the related events.
Languages:
the official language of Jordan is Arabic, but English is widely
spoken – especially in the cities. Many Jordanians have
traveled or have been educated abroad so French, German, Italian
and Spanish are also spoken, but to a lesser extent.
Time
Zone:
Jordan standard time in October-March period is 2 hours ahead
Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
Electric
Voltage: 220 AC volts, 50 cycles, requiring rounded
two-prong wall plugs. Visitors from the US will need a transformer
which most hotels can provide.
