UNEP is currently developing its Medium-Term Strategy 2014-2017, as per a decision from its 26th Governing Council, requesting UNEP to prepare for its twenty-seventh session (Feb 2013) a Medium-Term Strategy (MTS) for 2014–2017 with a vision, objectives, priorities, impact measures and a mechanism for review by Governments as well as a results-oriented and streamlined Programme of Work (PoW) & budget for 2014–2015.
The MTS is a planning document containing the high-level programmatic results, which guide the work of the organisation for a four-year period, and provides a framework for measuring progress, achievements and results over the four-year period.
As part of the process for developing the MTS, consultations with external stakeholders and partners are envisaged. The objective is to ensure that the MTS reflects the priorities and responds to the needs as set out by member states and civil society, and addresses global environmental and sustainability concerns.
Therefore, UNEP would like to solicit inputs and comments on the priorities for UNEP as outlined in the attached draft MTS 2014-2017. The deadline for submission is 3 February.
Inputs/comments should address:
1. The strategic focus for 2014-2017;
2. The subprogramme strategies, the types of strategic partnerships needed to materialise that vision; and
3. The operationalisation of the Strategy.
The deadline for submission of inputs/comments is 3 February 2012 by return email to Civil.Society@unep.org and copy to Ms Fatou Ndoye at Fatou.Ndoye@unep.org. The draft UNEP\'s Medium-Term Strategy for 2014-2017 is available here www.un-ngls.org/docs/unep/mts_draft_27_jan_2012.doc
