Within recent feminist scholarship considerable attention has been paid to the role of gender in constructing social space. This conference seeks to engage with this ‘spatial turn’ by considering the possibilities and constraints upon female agency in a broad range of contexts. Papers are particularly encouraged which focus upon the following:
- Gender and institutional politics
- Women’s movements and identity politics
- Negotiation of power and authority within the family
- Community and neighbourhood empowerment
- Politics of the workplace
- Gender and cultural production
