Economic and Social Council decides the theme for 2010 High-Level Segment

The Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, acting on two key procedural matters, decided that the theme of the High-Level Segment at its 2010 substantive session would be: "Current global and national trends and challenges and their impact on gender equality and empowerment of women".

As every year, this theme, which focus on the 3rd Millennium Development Goal: "Gender Equality", will serve as base for the definition of the World Family Summit +5 Theme, which will be held on the 4-6 December 2009, in Istanbul, Turkey.
