  UN-NGO-IRENE Best Practices Network

The NGO Section has developed a new web portal, "UN-NGO-IRENE Best Practices Network", with the goal to act as an engaging and interactive electronic forum, allowing organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC to share and discuss Best Practices and success stories. The initiative was born during the ECOSOC NGO Forum, held at UN headquarters in April, 2008, when actors from civil society around the world presented their highly acclaimed success stories.

The web portal is divided into different networks. Each network has a theme; selected based on the themes of the High Level Segments of ECOSOC, as well as other topical subjects of great importance within the international development community in the fields of economic and social development.

The "UN-NGO-IRENE Best Practices Network" web portal is open to the public. However, the content found on the site is exclusively contributed from organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC. Login to your account to upload stories, comment, and rate other projects. In doing so, you will take an active part in forming the information presented on the web site it self. In this regard, the "UN-NGO-IRENE Best Practices Network" web portal embraces the definition "Web 2.0", as to using the web as a community generated information platform, as well encourage the belief that an open information society strongly contributes to the strength and the success of all involved actors working towards similar goals.

Civil society plays an important role in reaching the internationally agreed development goals set out in the UN agenda, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Strong relationships among NGOs working in these fields, along with a knowledge based open platform will facilitate and strengthen their contribution towards these goals.

The "UN-NGO-IRENE Best Practices Network" web portal aims to empower the awareness in regards to the work being carried out by NGOs around the world, and to further increase the relationships between civil society and the United Nations.

Please visit the "UN-NGO-IRENE Best Practices Network" web portal at

The projects done by World Family Organization will be published on the website in the next week.
