The World Family Organization President (WFO), Dr. Deisi Noeli Weber Kusztra, presented the changes on the Balneário Camboriú community hospital project to the Mayor Rubens Spernau and Health Secretary Celso Golin, on Tuesday July 11th. WFO’s proposal is based on the city’s epidemiological and social indexes.

The changes suggested by the Secretariat included in the initial project an ambulatory for orthopedic attention and politrauma, given the high rate of admissions caused by accidents. WFO also included a specific ICU to attend these cases.

WFO presented to the Mayor Rubens Spernau the estimated budget of R$ 20.108.499,69 for the construction of the Hospital. WFO’s participation will sum 30%, R$ 8.617.928,44. This total amount, according to WFO President, is already committed through a resolution approved by the Organization on June 30th, in Paris. “The City intends to build a hospital, which is a need of our micro region. The Project is interesting and we will analyze and discuss it with the community and the Municipal Council, as we did with other presented projects. It is still early to affirm that we can celebrate the partnership with WFO, who was very supportive in assisting us in this process”, declared the Mayor.

The Hospital
Its main characteristic is that it is a community hospital, attending 85% of the basic health needs (low and medium complexity), covering a wide range of the population. The total sum includes the physical structure and the equipments, covering from the surgical instruments to bed sheets. “Only the (insumos) are not included”, guaranteed the President.

The hospital’s disposition is horizontal, resulting in low costs and optimizing human resources. Once the Hospital is built, WFO will implement a modern technical-administrative management system, aiming at cost effectiveness. The total constructed area sums 9.194,54 m2 (square meters), in seven blocs built in metal structure and dry wall. It holds 167 beds, divided in surgery, maternal and child ICU, orthopedic ICU, obstetrics, general practice, servicing to ambulatory, obstetric surgery, adult ICU, orthopedics, pediatrics, support to personnel and management.
