We, at the World Family Organization, are very proud to receive you at this beautiful and historical city of Istanbul, once again, to exchange experience and dialogue on how to develop Global Partnership and Local Actions towards our common aspiration in making this world more secure, peaceful, developed, harmonious in our diversity and a place where future generations will live knowing that we did our share in order to guarantee better future for them.

The Millennium Development Goals are the right road to be followed to achieve our common aspirations. And the Family is the right place to exercise the targets and actions of the Millennium Development Goals.

In this context, our responsibility on building a better future is more evident, so let's work!

The theme of this sixth edition of the World Family Summit, encompassing the theme to be discussed at the Annual Ministerial Review and Development Cooperation Forum of ECOSOC  2010 – “A Global Mobilization towards the achievement of the MDG 3 - Achieving Gender Equality and Empowering Women” is gender specific, but there are clear gender dimensions in all the Millennium Development Goals and is a broad recognition that Gender Equality and Empowerment of the Women to the achievement of all other MDGs.

The accomplishments of our Program, our discussions, recommendations and in especial our Final Declaration, will highlight our contribution in strengthening efforts at the Family Level to shape better understanding in Gender Equality and concrete actions to promote the real implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and finally the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

I wish to all of us a very fruitful work and also a very pleasant time at this magic city, full of history and respect for the diversity of different cultures and dialogue among civilizations.
