  WFO President in Abu Dhabi to Organize World Family Summit +7

Dr. Deisi Kusztra, WFO President, has arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to organize arrangements for the World Family Summit +7, which will be held in Abu Dhabi from 5 to 7 December 2011. Dr. Kusztra was received at the airport by Abu Dhabi Protocol, and Ms. Lara Hussein, WFO Vice President for Family Policy Coordination and Chief of Child Protection, UNICEF Gulf Area Office.

In the lead-up to meetings with Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, who is giving her High Patronage to the World Family Summit +7, Dr. Kusztra and Ms. Hussein were received by Ms. Noura Al-Sweidy, the Director of the General Women's Union and attended a number of preparatory meetings to discuss and finalize logistical arrangements for the Summit, including local Summit partners. This included a meeting with Ms. Elissar Sarrouh, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in the UAE, who will be a partner for the Summit, and Ms. Evy Messell, a gender specialist who will be collaborating with WFO for the Summit. Dr. Kusztra also met the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Marian Al Roumi and the General Manager of the Family Development Foundation, Mrs. Marian Mohamed Al Rumaithi. Dr. Deisi Kusztra was also received by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Kusztra said that she had been very well received in Abu Dhabi and that the discussions have been very productive.

The provisional theme of the World Family Summit +7 is Families in Balance: Working our way Towards Sustainable Development - Making Decent Work and Social Protection a Global Reality for All Family Members, which encompasses the theme of the 2012 UN ECOSOC Annual Ministerial Review, "Promoting productive capacity, employment and decent work to eradicate poverty in the context of inclusive, sustainable and equitable economic growth at all levels for achieving the Millennium Development Goals".
