PASZYNSKI
Deputy President of the capital city of Warsaw

Graduated from Tadeusz Reytan’s Secondary School (1969)
and the University of Warsaw (1974), in 1974-1987 he taught Polish
at Wladyslaw IV’s High School no. 8 and People’s Polish
Aviation High School no. 39, then until 1990 he was a university
lecturer at the Faculty of Polish Studies of the WU. In 1990-1998
Mr. Paszynski was the Superintendent of schools in Warsaw, in
2001-2002 – Deputy Minister of National Education. Until
the end of 2006 he worked as a teacher at the Teacher Training
College in Warsaw (in 1992 he co-developed its syllabus) and Lajos
Kossuth’s High School no. 63. He also taught at the Faculty
of Education and the Faculty of Polish Studies of the WU. Currently,
he has been the Deputy President of the capital city of Warsaw.
Mr. Paszynski was an expert on the educational team of the Chancellery
of the President of the Republic of Poland, worked together with
scientific and educational centers (e.g. the Institute of Public
Affairs, the Association of Studies and Social Initiatives), numerous
non-governmental organizations and foundations. He is a social
and literary publicist and co-authored, among others, Pamietajcie
o ogrodach, a Polish language teaching syllabus and a series of
textbooks entitled the same.
Until 1980 he was a scouting instructor. In 1980-1981 Mr. Paszynski
worked as a member of the Team of Experts in Education, a leader
in negotiations of teaching syllabuses with the then Ministry
of Education. After the introduction of the martial law he supported
the Independent Education, and co-developed, among others, Tu
Teraz, underground magazine.
In 1981 together with Marzena Okonska he organized the first in
Poland individual program class (with a proprietary curriculum).
In the late 1980s with his friends he established an individual
program high school (at present the First Social High School at
ul. Bednarska). He was a co-author of the liberal arts and educational
syllabus for that school and worked there as a tutor and teacher.
