Mrs.
Lara Hussein
WFO Vice President for Family Policy

Ms. Lara Hussein is Jordanian, holds a Masters degree in Education,
Human Resource Development from Huddersfield University, U.K.,
and a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the Yarmouk
University, Jordan. Ms. Hussein is currently the Deputy Secretary
General of the National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA), a family
policy think tank, that is headed by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah.
She is also the Vice President of the Family Policy Coordination
in the World Family Organization. Prior to holding her latest
post, Ms. Hussein was the Director of the Childhood Unit at NCFA.
She has gained her professional experience working for ten years
with the United Nations (ESCWA & UNICEF) in research and project
management related positions.
Moreover, she is a board
member in the World Family Organization, a board member in Queen
Rania College for Childhood at the Hashemite University, and an
Executive Committee member of the Child Protection Initiative
of Amman Municipality, as well as memberships in other national,
regional and international committees of which are: the International
Organizing Committee of the World Forum on Early Childhood Education,
the National Family Protection Team, the Education Reform for
the Knowledge Economy (ERFKE - Component Four) Higher Committee,
and was a member in the Health and Social Welfare Committees of
the Jordanian National Agenda.
During her professional
life, Ms. Hussein contributed to the development of several national
strategies and plans of action, that aims at improving the quality
of life for the Jordanian child and family, among those were:
the National Agenda, the National Plan of Action for Children
(2004-2013), the National Early Childhood Development Plan of
Action (2003-2007), the National Council for Family Affairs' Strategy
(2004-2006), The National Strategy for Combating Child Labor,
the Health Program Component of the UNICEF and Jordan Country
Strategy (2003-2007), and others.
She has represented Jordan
in several conferences, prepared many papers in the fields of
health, education and protection, and has mobilized a network
of national, regional and international partners who are working
on issues related to family, children and youth.
