Statement of Support for the WFO Summit

For centuries women have been at the heart of the family everywhere, and no where more so than in the Arab world. Throughout history, many millions of women have devoted their lives to their families, supporting, strengthening and caring for them. Today, a woman’s role extends far beyond her family. Many of women continue not only to raise a family but also perform multitude of other tasks in their professional lives. The relationship between women and their families has, therefore, become one of mutual support. While women continue to nurture their families, their families, in turn, provide them with the encouragement and help that they need in order to succeed. The support of their families has been absolutely vital to those women, in both the Middle East and the rest of the world, who have achieved such outstanding accomplishments in public life.

The Arab International Women's Forum firmly believes that the family is the cornerstone of society. It is fundamental to all economic and social development. The family is a vital element in the establishment of peace and security in any society.
