The second day panels of World Family Summit activities
were on Family and Reproductive and Maternal Health; Family and HIV/AIDS
Prevention and Care; Family and Environment; Family and Partnership
for Development; Family and Information and Communication Technology;
Family and its Role in Dialogue and Cultural Diversity.
Relevant
issues were mentioned to be incorporated in public policies elaboration,
as HIV/AIDS prevention, the role of the family, reproductive health
and male contributions in the family to reach gender equality.
It
was also discussed the media influence in child and teenager education
in the information era, bringing us a new family paradigm and challenges
to be overcome.
The
closing panel approached the changing needs of changing families, presenting
statistics on how issues related to elderly, health care and education
have changed and even how the roles of the family members have changed;
the impact of migration on the family as a whole and on the young members’
education. The impact of war was also mentioned, to families in the
war zone and to families whose members are sent to war.
