The World Family Organization President, Dr. Deisi Kusztra, speaks about MDGs and Families

Upon the invitation of Mrs. Maria de Lourdes Arruda, President of the APMI Haroldo Beltrão, a local NGO based on the Municipality of Francisco Beltrão, Paraná, Dr. Deisi Kusztra presented a lecture to 2.000 participants of a local gathering.

The main objective of the gathering, promoted by the NGO, was to promote exchange among the participants, who act locally in their communities through small “Mothers’ Clubs”, promoting education, women empowerment, income production and information spreading on health issues, and to inform them on concrete actions regarding the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Accompanied by Ms. Camila Marder, WFO Officer for International Affairs, and Dr. Diana Elisa, Officer for the United Nations NGO Informal Regional Network – Latin America (UN NGO IRENE-LA), the WFO President was received by the Mayor of Francisco Beltrão, Mr. Vilmar Cordasso, as well as the First Lady and many local authorities acting in the Family Issues field. Given the floor, the President spoke for more than an hour, explaining grass-root action for the MDGs and practical implementation in the everyday life.

The President received a standing ovation, and a strong commitment from the local authorities and the participants for immediate and concrete action on the MDGs. The President also received, as a token of appreciation, delicate hand-made crafts from the NGOs.
